In the world of politics, there are kingmakers that dictate who should be in power at a particular time. In political sphere, every individual is a stakeholder and at the same time a dictator, but small fraction of some calibre over the years find themselves in the political landscape and became warlord in the game.
There’s a term being use in the political realm which is “god father”. In politics it has been defined as authoritative allocation of value. The domination of God fatherism cannot be ruled out as it seems to be everywhere.
Virtually god fatherism sharpens the political arrangement in all countries of the world but it’s most dominant in African countries.
Jagaban of Borgu, the name Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is affectionately called, exhibits and directs power and authority practically in all Nigeria suburb.
Tinubu has approbatory touched the lives, beyond number that has rebrand them to what Nigeria sees to be top notch. He has brought out numerous individuals from nothing to something. He has also used the same teeth he had used to build some people to bite others. Akinwunmi Ambode, the illustrious son of Epe can attest to that.
Building a political fan base and empire like Tinubu’s takes time, hard work, effort, money and sweat. Jagaban over the years has outrightly gained this. He presently has a political embassy that his contemporaries are jealous about. Only few can match what he has built down the years.
In some quarters, Tinubu has become abominable not because of anything, but because he has been seen as a threat in the Nigeria government and politics which is eminently cherished and adored by many who has eaten and still eating succour from his empire.
Over the years, Tinubu has been a kingmaker because he has made kings but recently a particular organization known as “Asiwaju Reloaded Ambassador” threw its support behind Jagaban to become the President comes 2023. Though he disaffirmed the group but the former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki has also asserted that tinubu has presidency ambition but the former senator is yet to genuinely address the media regarding his ambition.
By permutations, the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the South-West. However, there are some big weight politicians in the North like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, who I know has so much up of his sleeves comes 2023. Well it’s also been rumoured that Kayode Fayemi of ekiti, Raji Fashola of Lagos and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are jostling for the presidency.
Actually Osinbajo has been networking and internetworking with influential personalities in and outside the country to aid his ambition.
It is imperative at this juncture to tell us that Fashola and Osinbajo are graduate of Tinubu school of Politics and they have benefitted immensely from the empire.
Virtually Fashola and Osinbajo were unknown to most Nigerians when Tinubu made a king out of them. When Fashola became governor of Lagos in 2007 and Osinbajo, the vice president in 2015, jagaban threw all his resources including money, power, effort and influence behind them to emerge.
It’s yet to be known if these students will back their master comes 2023. Some questions will be adequately answered in the next general election and some are; will Tinubu continue to make a king out of his students ? Will the students step down if their master eventually declare his ambition? All these cannot be accurately and definitely answered in finality for now because there are twists and turns in politics and that makes 2023 seems to be historic election season.
I forebearing awaits as the drama unfolds.
