International Day For Eradication of FGM; Osun Govt Calls For Citizens Support Towards Total Eradication

As the world celebrates the International Day of zero tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, Osun State government has called on the citizens to support the government towards eradication of Female Genital Mutilation.

The state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Barrister. Olubukola Olaboopo stated this while speaking with newsmen on the need to sentised the people on the danger embedded in female genital mutilation.

The Commissioner said it take collective efforts to tackle the menace considering the danger it possed to the society.

She called on all the stakeholders to work towards ensuring the practice is completely disappear in the society.

Barrister Olaboopo assured that the state government will not relent in creating strong awareness for the people on the danger associated with the practice.

The Commissioner who called on the traditional institutions and all stakeholders in protecting the female and children lives by stopping the practice said, people should embrace those part of our culture that are very positive and admirable to the world and not the one with disadvantage.

Barrister Olaboopo however called on the entire people of the state to join hands with Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration in saying no to female genital mutilation.
